One person is dead after a collision involving a transport truck on Highway 401 in eastern Ontario. The westbound lanes of Highway 401 remain closed between Gananoque and the Thousand Islands Bridge after the crash involving a car and a transport truck around 10 p.m. Wednesday. Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Erin Cranton tells CTV News Ottawa one person was pronounced dead at the scene. “We are working with the coroner’s office to determine the identity of the deceased,” Cranton said. Two other people were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say the westbound lanes of Hwy. 401 remain closed between Reynolds Road in Leeds and the Thousand Islands and Highway 2 in Gananoque. The eastbound lanes of the highway were initially closed as part of the investigation, but reopened at 3:45 a.m. Police are asking anyone with information or dashcam footage of the collision to contact the Leeds County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
