‘Lengthy closure’ expected after crash on Highway 401 in Pickering

A collision has closed the westbound lanes of Highway 401 in Pickering, police say.

In a post to social media, OPP say the crash happened shortly before 8 a.m. on Highway 401 westbound at Whites Road.

Officials say injuries are still being assessed.

Drivers are being urged to use alternate routes, follow directions from officers at the scene and expect significant delays. Police say a “lengthy” closure is anticipated.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
