One suspect has been arrested and another is wanted after a man was assaulted and killed in Niagara Falls last week. Niagara Regional Police officers were called to a business in the area of Lundy’s Lane and Hanan Avenue on Thursday evening following reports of an assault. Police said they found the victim, 37-year-old Matthew Mcara, without vital signs. Life-saving measures were performed at the scene before he was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Police said on Monday, Mcara succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Following an investigation, police determined McAra had been assaulted by two suspects who fled the area before officers arrived. Police launched a search with the assistance of a K-9 unit, according to a news release. On Tuesday, police arrested Alexander Piccirillo, 46, of Niagara Falls and charged him with second-degree murder. Brandon Fitzgerald, 31, of Niagara Falls, is still wanted for second-degree murder.
