Suspect charged in alleged sexual assault in men’s public bathroom: VPD

A man was arrested and charged with sexual assault after an incident in a public washroom in Vancouver Monday afternoon, according to authorities.

Officers with were called to the restroom in English Bay around 3 p.m., the Vancouver Police Department said in a statement.

“Police responded to a report that a man allegedly groped another man’s genitalia in a public washroom. Police located the suspect and arrested him,” the statement said.

Fifty-year-old Cecil Plett has been charged with sexual assault and failing to comply with a release order and is being held in custody, according to the VPD. The department did not provide any additional details on the conditions of the release order Flett is alleged to have breached.

Flett’s next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 5.
