Police in Victoria are asking for help identifying a man they say was responsible for a case of “hate-motivated mischief.” The incident occurred in the 2100 block of Vancouver Street around 4 a.m. on Sunday, the Victoria Police Department said in a news release Tuesday. Police shared a photo of the suspect, in which he appears to be spray-painting the front door of a home. They did not specify what messages or symbols the man painted. “The incident is being investigated as mischief and a possible hate-motivated offence,” the VicPD release reads. Police described the suspect as a white man with long, dark hair, a dark moustache and a tattoo on his left hand. He stands approximately six feet tall, according to police, and he appears to be wearing a white T-shirt and dark-coloured pants in the image. Anyone who recognizes the man or has information or surveillance video from the area should call the E-Comm Report Desk at 250-995-7654, extension 1, police said.
