The Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA) is inviting people of all ages to explore the region’s natural areas and look for signs of late summer as part of the WE Conservation Challenge. The region’s 18 public conservation areas and more than 80 kilometres of connected Greenway trails offer opportunities to spot seasonal wildlife and plant life. The challenge can be seen at conservation areas including Holiday Beach, Hillman Marsh and the John R. Homestead. “As the pace of life begins to shift toward fall, we’re inviting families to challenge themselves to enjoy the WE Conservation Challenge,” Danielle Stuebing, ERCA’s director of communications, said in a release. Participants can download the WE Conservation Challenge checklist from the Essex Region Conservation Authority website before visiting a conservation area. Once checklist has been completed, participants can fill out an online ballot for a chance to win a seasonal pass. The challenge closes on Labour Day, with the winner scheduled to be drawn at 4 p.m. on Sept. 8.
