Michael Newlove stopped 30 shots for his third straight shutout as the Windsor Spitfires blanked the Brampton Steelheads 3-0 on Sunday. Newlove became the first Ontario Hockey League goaltender to record three consecutive shutouts since Windsor’s Michael DiPietro accomplished the feat in December 2016. Anthony Cristoforo scored twice and added an assist for the Spitfires, who extended their winning streak to four games and moved within four points of the West Division-leading Flint Firebirds. Meanwhile, Spitfires forward Bogdan Yakushevsky was named the OHL’s rookie of the month for October. The 17-year-old Russian leads all first-year players with 10 goals and 19 points in 15 games.
