Two people were injured after a small plane at the Portage la Prairie Airport in Manitoba malfunctioned and veered off the runway on Sunday. The incident took place around 4:10 p.m. when the pilot was taking off during an airshow. According to police, the plane malfunctioned, causing the pilot to abandon the takeoff and try to bring the aircraft to a safe stop. However, the plane ended up driving off the end of the runway and landing in a ditch. The pilot, a 61-year-man, and passenger, a 54-year-old woman, were taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has been notified.
