Winnipeg police are asking the public for help finding a vehicle that was involved in an alleged hit-and-run on Monday. Police said officers were called to the intersection of Provencher Boulevard and Des Meurons Street around 7:20 a.m. for reports of a pedestrian who was hit and a driver who failed to stay at the scene. The pedestrian, a 27-year-old man, was helped by another driver, police said, and was taken to hospital in stable condition. Police said their investigation found the man was crossing Provencher eastbound when he was hit by a vehicle going west on Provencher that was turning south onto Des Meurons. Police said the driver didn’t stay at the scene and now investigators are searching for a dark sports car. Police don’t currently have a make or model of the car. If anyone has information or video footage of the incident, they are asked to call police. Driver charged after school patroller injured Police have also charged a driver after a child was injured in a crash near the end of October. Officers went to a crash at Sargent Avenue and Dominion Street around 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 26. Police said a vehicle hit a light post, which ended up hitting a child who was “performing school patrol duties at the intersection.” The child was taken to hospital in stable condition. Police said the driver remained on the scene, and officers continued to investigate. On Nov. 3, police charged the driver under the Highway Traffic Act with driving imprudently, disobeying a traffic control device, failing to give the required information to a person injured in an accident and failing to make a police report after being in an accident.
