Halifax firefighters rescued two occupants from an apartment fire in Spryfield, N.S., Friday night. Emergency crews responded to the three-storey building on Enid Avenue around 9:33 p.m. While on route, crews said multiple reports were received of occupants trapped inside the structure, prompting an immediate second alarm. Crews said they arrived to a working fire on the top floor in the rear of the structure. “Our members began a coordinated attack — one member deployed a hose line to the rear of the building to knock down the fire while the other members raised a ladder to the upper floor to begin a vent-enter-search (VES),” read a social media post from Halifax Professional Fire Fighters. During the search, crews located two victims and rescued them from the affected unit. Upon the arrival of additional crews, operations were expanded to further hose lines and establish a coordinated fire attack. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
