An STM bus crashed into three vehicles and struck two restaurant patios on Monkland Avenue after the bus driver suffered a medical episode Wednesday afternoon. According to Montreal police (SPVM), the incident happened between Harvard and Oxford avenues around 2:45 p.m. in the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough. SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant called it a “miracle” that only three people suffered minor injuries, adding that those three people and the bus driver were sent to hospital. In a statement, the Société de transport de Montréal confirmed the crash involved the bus on route 162. “According to the information we have, the driver reportedly felt unwell and was taken to the hospital,” the STM said, adding that passengers were inside at the time of the collision and were treated for minor injuries by Urgences-Santé “Our hearts go out to our driver and those injured in this incident,” the STM said. The investigation is ongoing.
