A 33-year-old woman is facing charges after Halifax Regional Police say a hit-and-run on Sunday night turned into a chase that ended with her car crashing into a police vehicle. Police say officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run collision on Dentith Road around 7:35 p.m. The run vehicle described as a grey sedan fled toward Herring Cove Road. “Officers located the vehicle on Herring Cove Road and activated emergency equipment attempting to the stop the sedan. The sedan did not stop and fled the area at a high rate of speed. The pursuit was terminated for safety concerns,” read a news release from police. Officers located the sedan on Purcells Cove Road at 8:20 p.m. and deployed a spike belt in an attempt to stop the sedan. The sedan struck the spike belt and continued inbound toward the Armdale Roundabout. The driver lost control of the sedan and struck a police vehicle at the Armdale Roundabout and Qunipool Road. Police say officers deployed a conducted energy weapon in order to arrest the driver. The driver, a 33-year-old female, is being held in court and facing charges for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop after an accident, flight from police and breach of conditions. “Investigators with Patrol and Forensic Identification Section are conducting the investigation, which is in the early stages; additional charges maybe pending,” says police.
