The RCMP is releasing photos of war memorabilia stolen from a veteran during a home invasion in Nasonworth, N.B., in July. Police say three people entered the home on Robby’s Road between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. on July 9. They restrained the elderly homeowner and robbed him of several war memorabilia artifacts, along with an undisclosed amount of money and other personal items, according to the RCMP. At the time, 91-year-old Allen Kennedy told CTV News Atlantic the vandals tied him to a chair with zip ties and looted his home for about 15 minutes before fleeing the scene. Kennedy, a Canadian Armed Forces veteran, said he managed to free himself and went next door for help, since the thieves had taken all the phone cords in his home. Among the stolen items were various war medals and memorabilia, a Gurkha kukri war knife from overseas, which was gifted to Kennedy by a friend while serving, and around $45,000. Kennedy said the thieves had also planned to steal a near-complete collection of Royal Canadian Mint coins, but they were left in a bag on a sofa and are now in the hands of the RCMP as part of the investigation. Investigators are still trying to track down the stolen items and the people who took them, described as two men and one woman. They were all tall and thin, spoke English, and were wearing face masks to hide their identities. Police released photos of the stolen items on Thursday, in the hopes someone may recognize them. Investigators are asking anyone with information about the stolen artifacts, the home invasion, or the suspects, to contact the RCMP West District Community Crime Reduction Unit at 506-357-4300.
