Fire causes ‘significant damage’ to cottage in Sheet Harbour, N.S.

Fire crews battled a structure fire in Sheet Harbour. N.S., Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Halifax Regional Fire Service responded to a structure fire in Sheet Harbour, N.S. at approximately 11 p.m. Wednesday. RCMP assisted at the scene of the fire, off Highway 374 in the 140 block of Loon Loop.

The occupant of the cottage was already outside when emergency services arrived. Nobody was harmed in the fire but there was significant damage to the structure, believed to be a cottage.

Multiple units attacked the fire for several hours until it was out, said Doug Brown of Integrated Emergency Services, in an email to CTV.

Halifax Regional Police say the road has since reopened to traffic.

Investigators are now trying to determine the cause of the fire.
