After less than two months of construction, the ramp connecting MacKay Bridge to Robie Street will reopen this weekend. The Massachusetts Avenue ramp, which connects traffic from the MacKay Bridge and Barrington Street to Robie Street, has been closed since Sept. 21 for a rebuilding network. It was set to reopen on Nov. 27, but it is now slated to open by the end of day Saturday, nearly a month ahead of schedule. “As a result of extensive collaboration between the municipality and its partners, the ramp is scheduled to reopen nearly three weeks earlier than planned,” a news release from the Halifax Regional Municipality reads. “By adding additional resources and scheduling work concurrently, the contractor was able to accelerate construction progress.” The closure allowed crews to support construction of the new Bayne Street ramp connection from Highway 111 as part of the Windsor Street Exchange project.
