A man was charged after he allegedly robbed a convenience store Friday night in Sydney, N.S. Cape Breton Regional Police responded to a robbery report at the Needs store at 719 George Street just after 7 p.m. A man allegedly entered the store armed with a knife and demanded money from the clerk. He left the store with “a quantity of cash” but there were no injuries, said the news release. Police identified a suspect after reviewing the CCTV footage. They patrolled the downtown area and located the suspect in a residence on Bentinck Street and took him into custody, said the release. Randy Travis Alex, 36, was charged with robbery and two probation order breaches. He was remanded and will appear in Sydney Provincial Court on Monday.
