A 54-year-old Nova Scotia man is facing a fraud charge following a seven-year police investigation into him and his law firm regarding the misappropriation and theft of trust funds. The RCMP launched the investigation into Jason Donald Boudrot and his firm after receiving multiple complaints in January 2019. The investigation, titled Project HUBRIS, collected more than 100 victim and witness statements from Canada and the United States, and obtained more than a dozen judicial authorizations, according to an RCMP news release. After police executed search warrants at a Halifax law office, a court process to ensure solicitor-client privilege was maintained for records unrelated to the case was started in September 2021. The process wrapped up in August 2024. Police, working with the Forensic Accounting Management Group, reviewed thousands of documents and hours of victim testimony.
