Police in Nova Scotia are trying to track down a vehicle and the people who were in it after a man was injured in a “road rage incident” earlier this month. The RCMP responded to a weapons complaint at a gas station in the 0-100 block of Highway 1 in Mount Uniacke, N.S., around 9:50 p.m. on Aug. 2. Officers found a 40-year-old Mount Uniacke man who had been shot with a pellet gun at the scene. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police learned the man had been travelling on Highway 101 when a Honda Civic changed lanes closely in front of his vehicle after passing him on the right. “After the victim flashed his high beams, a rear passenger in the Honda flashed a floodlight in response,” said the RCMP in a news release Friday. Both vehicles exited the highway at Mount Uniacke and the victim pulled into a gas station. Police say the Honda continued toward Sackville but then turned around and stopped beside the victim’s vehicle. “When the victim exited his vehicle to speak with the other driver, a rear passenger shot him with a BB gun,” said the RCMP. The Honda then fled north on Highway 1. Police are still trying to identify the vehicle and the people involved and are investigating the incident as an assault with a weapon. “A moment of frustration on the road should never escalate into violence,” said Cpl. Mandy Edwards, public information officer for the Nova Scotia RCMP. “Acts of this nature put public safety at risk and have the potential to cause serious harm.” The suspect vehicle is described as a grey, late-model (2010-2016) four-door Honda Civic. The driver is described as a male in his late teens or early 20s. The rear passenger was also male, and there may have been one or two more people inside the vehicle. No other descriptions are available. Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident, or dashcam footage from Highway 101 westbound between 9:20 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. on Aug. 2, or Highway 1 eastbound between 9:40 p.m. and 9:50 p.m. on Aug. 2, to contact East Hants District RCMP at 902-883-7077.
