Woman facing several drug and weapon charges following traffic stop: New Glasgow Police

A 32-year-old woman from Scotsburn, N.S., is facing several drug and weapon offences following a traffic stop, according to New Glasgow Police.

Police say they conducted a traffic stop on East River Road around 9:05 p.m. Saturday.

According to a news release on Monday, officers identified the driver as the subject of outstanding criminal charges and she was arrested.

Police then conducted a search where they say they found:

• 18 grams of suspected cocaine
• brass knuckles
• a digital scale
• an undisclosed amount of cash

As a result of the investigation, the 32-year-old woman is facing charges of:

• possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
• possession of a prohibited weapon
• possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Police add the woman was originally arrested for outstanding charges of:

• possession of property obtained by crime
• fraud under $5,000 (three counts)
• unauthorized use of a credit card (three counts)

The woman has since been released from custody with conditions and is set to appear in provincial court in Pictou at a later date.
