The prices of diesel and gasoline will be adjusted in Nova Scotia at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday. The Nova Scotia Energy Board says the changes are necessary “due to significant shifts in the market prices.” The benchmark prices for gasoline and diesel are based on the average daily market prices of each type of petroleum product, as traded on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX). Those average prices are then converted into Canadian dollars. The energy board says it monitors gasoline and diesel markets daily and can set a new price at any time. The current minimum price of regular gasoline in Zone 1 is 190.6 cents per litre. The minimum price of diesel in Zone 1 is 239.2 cents per litre. Gas prices drop on P.E.I. Prices at the pumps went down overnight on Prince Edward Island. The cost of regular self-serve gasoline decreased by 6.9 cents. The new minimum price is 193.7 cents per litre. Diesel prices fell by 1.2 cents. The minimum price now sits at 243.1 cents per litre. Prices at the pumps did not change in New Brunswick overnight.
