An 87-year-old man has died after crashing into the back of a garbage truck in Belfast, P.E.I. The collision happened Thursday around 2:50 p.m. on Route 207. According to RCMP, it appears the 87-year-old driver from Queens County failed to brake and hit the back of a garbage truck that was in the same lane. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Two men working in the garbage truck were not physically injured. Members of the Kings District RCMP, the Belfast Fire Department and Island EMS attended the scene. A collision reconstructionist was also brought in to help in the investigation. Police said officers are also working with the coroner’s office.
