Reeny brings family tradition back to the stage with annual Christmas show

The Reeny family is bringing its annual Christmas show to Halifax this week.

One of Nova Scotia’s most festive musical traditions is returning this week as Reeny hosts her annual Smith Family Christmas show at Monte’s Showbar Grill.

Now in its sixth year, the event brings together Reeny and several members of her famously musical family for a night of holiday music, humour and togetherness. Audiences can expect a mix of Christmas classics, original songs and reimagined favourites.

“My family is very musical,” Reeny said in an interview with CTV Atlantic’s Katie Kelly. “My mom and dad are musicians, my siblings and cousins perform … and we always have a few special guests. We also pride ourselves on having a lot of fun.”

Among those joining Smith on stage is her cousin, award-winning musician Micah Smith, who says the unpredictability is part of the charm.

“There are no rules,” said Smith. “You never quite know what’s going to happen - and that’s what makes it special.”

Reeny’s Family Christmas takes place Friday, Dec. 19, from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at Monte’s Showbar Grill.
