A fire broke out at a home near Friday Harbour early Monday morning causing an estimated $1.7 million in damages. Emergency crews were called to Big Bay Point Road in Innisfil around 1:20 a.m. after neighbours noticed flames coming from the back of the home. According to the fire chief, the residents were away on vacation at the time of the blaze. Seven fire trucks responded to the scene as crews worked to bring the flames under control. Later Monday morning, the Office of the Fire Marshal was asked to attend the property to investigate. Fire officials tell CTV News the residence is no longer habitable. One cat remains unaccounted for but officials believe the pet may have escaped from the home during the fire. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
