Grab your hats, kick up your boots and throw on your country best for the grand finale of one of Ontario’s fastest-growing festivals right here in our region. The Troubadour Summer Concert Series will come to a rousing finish as Canadian country superstar Tim Hicks rocks Meridian Place stage on Sept. 12. Fresh off his Boots and Hearts performance, up-and-coming country artist Mitch Zorn will warm up the crowd. Zorn, who’s from small town Nakusp, B.C., says performing is like “a dream come true.” “I come from a town of like 1,000 people,” Zorn says. “So, I still can’t believe anyone listens to my music.” Zorn tells CTV News, the crowd is in for “some high-energy, rock and roll country.” The Local Opener Showcase, yet to be announced who’s been chosen, will get things going. Troubadour encompasses an entire experience chock full of programming throughout the day including the Troubadour Street Stage, daytime entertainment, food vendors, family activities and interactive experiences. “We wanted the final Troubadour Festival of the summer to feel like a true finale, and Tim Hicks delivers exactly that,” says Steve Ricalis, chair of the Downtown Barrie BIA. “We’ve watched thousands of people fill Downtown Barrie throughout this series, discovering artists, supporting our businesses and enjoying incredible Canadian music together. September 12 is our chance to celebrate everything this season has become and finish it with one huge night.” The Troubadour Summer Concert Series is presented by Paul Sadlon Motors, CTV News Barrie, PURE COUNTRY 106, BOUNCE 104.1, Hey Bear Productions, Lemmon Entertainment, City of Barrie and Tourism Barrie.
