Barrie unveils first look at Letitia Heights Library

Residents in Barrie can now get a first look at a library that has been in the works for several months.

Letitia Heights Library is coming to 420 Leacock Drive and on Wednesday, Mayor Alex Nuttall and Deputy Mayor Robert Thompson were on location to unveil what the library will look like once completed.

Renderings of the building shared by the city show a completed store-front style entrance with large, multi-coloured glass wall wrapping around the back that lead up to a high point.

According to the city, when completed, it will be 4,800 square feet.

The library was first approved by council in 2025 once Letitia Heights was identified by Barrie Public Library as “having a strong need” for a branch.

Once completed, the city says it will offer a place for community connection and engagement as well as access to programs and services.

The library is set to open in the fall of 2026.
