Lines on Barrie roads to appear bright and crisp once again

Markings on city roads may have faded over wintertime, but soon enough, those line markings will be a visible, crisp white again.

Barrie’s annual line painting has begun, carried out by the City’s pavement marking contractor.

The work includes white lane lines, bike lanes and yellow centre lines and turning arrows, making travel easier and safer for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.

Expected to take around six weeks, the City says the painting happens overnight between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Painting at intersections, which are crosswalks and those thicker lines at stop signs, will be ongoing from June through October.

Crews carry out the work by operating a painting truck followed by a blocker truck. The latex paint, which is water-based, typically dries within two minutes.

The City reminds drivers to adhere to all posted signs and to drive carefully through active work zones.
