No injuries after spreading vehicle fire in Walmart parking lot

Emergency crews responded to an intense vehicle fire in Midland Sunday afternoon that spread from one car to another.

According to Southern Georgian Bay OPP, officers and fire crews were dispatched to the incident in the Walmart parking lot on Highway 12 just after noon.

A parked vehicle had reportedly ignited and the fire spread to another parked vehicle.

A photo included in an OPP news release shows what appears to be a completely burnt minivan covered in fire retardant.

Police say the fire was eventually brought under control by firefighters and no injuries were reported.

“The fire is believed to be mechanical in nature,” said Const. Aaron Coulter from Southern Georgian Bay OPP in the news release. “OPP officers remained on scene to assist and ensure public safety while Midland Fire Department personnel extinguished the fire and secured the area.”
