18-year-old charged with impaired after serious crash with motorcyclist on Hwy. 11

Charges have been laid following a three-vehicle crash on Highway 11 in Gravenhurst that left a motorcyclist with serious injuries.

On Thursday, Bracebridge police, along with Muskoka emergency services and the Gravenhurst Fire Department, responded to the scene near Sparrow Lake Route Drive shortly before 4 p.m.

Police say one of the vehicles involved was a motorcycle and the rider became trapped beneath another vehicle.

The motorcyclist was airlifted to a Toronto hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have since charged an 18-year-old man from Angus with impaired operation, driving with cannabis readily available and operating a motor vehicle contrary to G2 licence conditions.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a late date. Highway 11 South was closed for several hours and reopened around 6:35 p.m.
