Scuffle near downtown Barrie leads to arrests, weapon charge for adult and teen

A 27-year-old man and a 14-year-old are facing charges after an alleged assault near downtown Barrie on Monday night.

Police say officers observed two males assaulting a third in the area of Sophia Street East and Clapperton Street around 8:15 p.m.

According to police, the alleged assailants were in possession of a large knife.

Officers intervened and detailed the two suspects.

Both males are now facing charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Police say the 14-year-old is facing two additional counts of failing to comply with a sentence order or disposition.
