A four-year-old girl has died after she was hit by a Jeep on Sunday. The girl was walking with her mother in a parking lot in the area of 66 Street and 170 Avenue around 5:15 p.m. when she broke free from her mother, ran onto 66 Street and was hit by the SUV, the Edmonton Police Service said. Bystanders performed first aid on the girl and she was taken to the Stollery Children’s Hospital, but she died of her injuries. The 23-year-old woman driving the Jeep stayed on scene. Neither speed or impairment were factors in the crash, according to police. Support services are being offered to everyone involved in the crash.
