A man from King City is one of three individuals facing charges in connection with a loansharking operation, provincial police say. OPP say their investigation into the matter began in September, under the name Project Stop. They aimed to investigate a money lending operation that allegedly involved criminal interest rates upon return. Nine months later police executed search warrants in King City and North York that resulted in three arrests. A 44-year-old King City man, a 51-year-old North York man and a 68-year-old North York man have all been charged in connection with the investigation. The man from King City faces charges of laundering, extortion, possession of property obtained by crime and a charge of criminal interest rate, among other charges. The 51-year-old faces charges of laundering and possession of property obtained by crime and criminal interest rate. The 68-year-old has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime and obstructing police.
