Police in Greater Sudbury have arrested a second suspect in connection with the fatal tent fire at the Energy Court homeless encampment on June 11. According to police, Bryan Eshquib, 31, was taken into custody shortly after 3 a.m. on July 22 at Energy Court. The Greater Sudbury Police Service said the arrest occurred “without incident” in a news release Thursday. Eshquib is charged with first-degree murder, weapons possession and arson with disregard for human life. He was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in bail court on July 22. A 41-year-old man died in the fire, which police have ruled a homicide. His name has not been released at the request of his family. “Several individuals were seen fleeing the two tents immediately after the fire began at approximately 3:20 a.m.,” police previously stated. Brandon Gramling-McEwan, 33, was arrested June 16 at a Greater Sudbury Housing complex on Bruce Avenue in connection with the same incident. He faces charges of first-degree murder, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of arson with disregard for human life, two counts of arson causing property damage and possession of incendiary materials.
