A 34-year-old London man is facing multiple charges after police say he threatened a woman with a knife and later stole alcohol from a business in the city’s west end. London police say officers were called to a plaza in the 1200-block of Oxford Street West around 10:55 a.m. Tuesday after a woman reported being approached by a man she didn’t know while inside a business. Investigators allege the man showed a knife and threatened the woman before leaving the store. Police said no physical injuries were reported. According to police, the suspect then entered another business in the same plaza, took a bottle of alcohol and left without paying. Around 11:35 a.m., officers found the suspect near Hyde Park and Fiddlers Green roads. In the interest of public safety, police closed Hyde Park Road between Oxford Street West and Valetta Street while officers negotiated with the armed man. The suspect was arrested at about 1:45 p.m. and taken to hospital with minor injuries, police said. A 34-year-old London man, has been charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats of death or bodily harm, theft under $5,000, failing to comply with a release order and breach of probation.
