Parks Canada has closed two hiking trails in Banff as well as several backcountry campgrounds due to black bear activity. Lake Minnewanka Trail and Aylmer Pass Trail are both closed to all travel until further notice, starting immediately. The following campgrounds are also shuttered: LM8, LM9, LM11, LM20, LM22 and LM31. Parks Canada says black bears in the area have displayed “food-seeking behaviour” over the past several months. The closures are to protect visitors and wildlife. “There is absolutely no entry permitted,” Parks Canada said. “Violators may face fines up to $25,000. “Please respect closures and give wildlife the space they need.
