The investigator who dealt with the complaint made against former Regina Police Service (RPS) Chief Farooq Sheikh spoke during the appeal hearing for his dismissal on Tuesday. Sheikh was terminated with cause in October 2025 after an investigation found he engaged in “unprofessional and inappropriate conduct” with a member of the Regina Board of Police of Commissioners at the time. The publication ban is in place that protects the complainant’s identity. Shawn George, who worked with the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) at the time of the investigation into Sheikh’s conduct, spoke on the evidence the commission found and the details of its final report. The evidence showed transcriptions of various text messages between Sheikh and the complainant. George described the tone of the conversations between the two as “friendly banter” and “flirtatious” where they would exchange information on how their day was to one another. Another conversation showed Sheikh asking the complainant if they would be attending an upcoming police board meeting, around the time possible amendments to his contract were being discussed.
