The threat of a strike by Brewster Transportation workers has eased after the union and employer reached a tentative collective agreement. Members of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1415 are voting on the proposed contract, with the 24-hour balloting period scheduled to end at 5 p.m. Thursday. Union president Nicole Kruger confirmed to CTV News the tentative agreement was distributed to members with a recommendation from the bargaining committee that it be accepted. The tentative agreement comes after union members rejected an earlier contract offer in June, leaving workers in a legal strike position once the federally mandated cooling-off period expired. The dispute has centred on wages and working conditions. No strike action is expected while voting continues, but the union’s next steps will depend on the outcome. Brewster Transportation, owned by Pursuit, provides scheduled transportation, sightseeing tours and charter bus services in Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper and Calgary.
