Wednesday marks two years since a 48-year-old New Brunswick man disappeared under suspicious circumstances. David Alexander Mitchell was last seen at a home on Whites Mountain Road in Whites Mountain on Sept. 9, 2024. He was reported missing to police on Sept. 25, 2024. The RCMP told CTV News two months later that Mitchell’s disappearance is considered suspicious. The Major Crime Unit took over the investigation in September 2025. In a Wednesday update, police said they continue to pursue all “available investigative avenues” into Mitchell’s disappearance. “The investigation remains active, and RCMP Major Crime Unit investigators have taken carriage of the file,” the RCMP said in a post on social media. “Anyone with information related to his disappearance, no matter how small it may seem, is asked to contact police.” Police also released two new photos of Mitchell. He has previously been described as about six-foot-two and about 180 pounds. He also has hazel eyes, grey hair and a grey goatee. It’s not known what he was wearing at the time of his disappearance. Police say anyone with information on the case can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
