Calgarians enjoyed multiple Canada Day events across the city. Many were decked out in red and white as they enjoyed entertainment and food at Eau Claire, Prince’s Island Park, The Confluence and other neighbourhood celebrations. Indigenous drumming and dancing were big parts of the show at Eau Claire. People CTV News Calgary spoke to say they enjoyed the chance to get out, enjoy good summer weather and show Canadian pride. “We always come out on this day just to be with everybody, and then celebrate the day,” said one women with her family at Eau Claire. “I’m Irish originally,” said another man. “I like being here on Canada Day. It’s awesome.” For some, it’s more than just a day off work. “I feel it’s more than barbecue and fireworks,” one woman said. “It’s about history.” “What a fantastic day to celebrate Canada and the heritage that we are so fortunate to have in our country,” another man added.
