Calgary firefighters battled a fully involved commercial fire just off Macleod Trail S.W. for hours on Monday. Crews were called to the scene on 1A Street S.W. at 5 a.m. When CTV News arrived, flames were still significant and explosions could be seen coming from inside the building. A second alarm was called by the fire department. Firefighters attacked the blaze from the ground. Three ladder trucks also doused the fire from above. Fire crews say hybrid electric vehicles inside the building were a major concern. The business where the fire started is Kulu Motorcar, but neighbouring businesses are also affected. There are no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
