Fox Hollow golfers enjoy a November round, thanks to balmy conditions

There's been no real sign of winter in Calgary. People are out, enjoying unseasonably warm temperatures along the river and even on the fairways.

While it wasn’t your typical round, 115 golfers still enjoyed themselves at Fox Hollow on Tuesday.

“It’s a great way to get out, get together with some friends and hit some golf balls late in the season,” said golfer Patrick Baillie.

Calgary hit double digits on Tuesday, way above the average daily temperature of 3 C.

“We’re in winter golf season right now, which is temporary greens and tees. The actual green is just kind of a cutout in the fairway, and the hole is like the size of a tin can,” said Jon Fry, Fox Hollow assistant golf pro.

“The conditions out there are as fun as you make it. It’s not real golf anymore, but it’s close, and it’s what Calgary gets in November.”

Snow is expected on Friday, so the golf course might have to close for a while.

But there’s always hope.

“You never know; if some sun comes out in December, we might open up again,” said Fry.
