As expected, the Canada Day weather was a bit turbulent and included a bit of everything - sun, cloud, rain, wind, and multiple waves of mild thunderstorms. Rainfall totals were around five millimetres at YYC International with some portions of central and southern Alberta seeing more. Thursday will be similar to Wednesday, but with a lesser chance of precipitation. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible in the late morning and early afternoon in Calgary. The first hint will be building cumulonimbus to the west, with some of those clouds potentially developing into thunderstorms as they track east and north. Temperatures around the region will be seasonal with a daytime high of 22 C in Calgary. The Calgary Stampede parade day forecast is looking mild, including a mix of sun and cloud, a light west wind and temperatures around 13 C at 6 a.m., 17 C by 9 a.m. and 19 C by 11 a.m. There is about a 20 per cent chance of light rain at the start of the parade and a 30 per cent chance of scattered showers by the end of the parade. The weather during the first week of the Stampede should be warm, with highs ranging from 23 C to 26 C most days. It is too far out to predict with great certainty, but right now the coolest day is expected to be Sunday with a high of 19 C and the warmest day should be on Tuesday with a forecast high of 29 C. Overnight lows are expected to range from 9 C to 14 C from Friday through next Saturday. For comparison, the normal daytime high in Calgary is 22 C and the normal low is 9 C. Typical of the weather during the Calgary Stampede, there will be a good mix of sun and cloud with a chance of daytime-driven afternoon or evening thunderstorms on a few days.
