RCMP arrested the driver of an off-highway vehicle after a pedestrian was hit on a winter trail southeast of Fort McMurray. On March 11 at 8:32 p.m., officers were called to the trail around six kilometres north of the entrance to Gregoire Lake Provincial Park. Witnesses reported an off-highway vehicle had been stuck and then backed over a pedestrian, according to police. “The victim suffered severe injuries and was transported by ambulance to an Edmonton area hospital,” RCMP said in a news release. The driver of the vehicle, a 46-year-old man, was arrested at the scene. Police say he is facing charges of: Off-highway vehicles include ATVs, quads, dirt bikes, snowmobiles and more. The driver was released from custody and is set to appear in court on April 15.
