Two vehicles have been seized after RCMP say they were seen street racing in Fort McMurray. Officers were doing patrols in the Timberlea area at 1:12 a.m. on Monday when a black Ford Explorer and a grey Kawasaki motorcycle were seen taking off from a red light at a high rate of speed. Police say the SUV was caught on laser radar going 114 km/h while the motorcycle was recorded at 134 km/h. The posted speed limit in the area is 60 km/h. Officers stopped both vehicles and handed the drivers court summons for speeding and racing. Both vehicles were also towed by RCMP. The driver of the motorcycle is set to appear in court on Aug. 21 and the driver of the SUV has a court date of Aug. 28. In Alberta drivers who exceed the speed limit by more than 50 km/h are subject to four demerit points and a fine of up to $495 as well as a mandatory court appearance.
