An 81-year-old man is dead after being taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash last month. Police say officers responded to a crash involving a 2024 Kia Seltos and a 2011 Kia Optima just before 6 p.m. on June 24 in the area of 97 Street and 132 Avenue. A news release said the Seltos, driven by the 81-year-old, was travelling north on 97 Street where he attempted to make a left turn onto 132 Avenue westbound when it was struck by the Optima travelling southbound on 97 Street. The 81-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries but was in stable condition. The 22-year-old man and driver of the Optima and the 21-year-old female passenger were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and have since been released. Impairment is not believed to be a factor. Police say the senior succumbed to his injuries in hospital on Saturday The major collision investigations section has taken over the investigation and is seeking witnesses or dashcam footage from anyone travelling in the area at the time of the crash.
