Fans got an unusual sneak peek into the life of Alberta country musician Brett Kissel on Tuesday. The St. Paul born-and-raised singer-songwriter known for Canadian country hits “Airwaves” and “Make a Life, Not a Living,” hosted a garage sale with his family at the A.J. Ottewell Community Centre in Sherwood Park. Among the various household goods were small treasures, like Brett Kissel-owned and branded hats or CDs. Attendees were also able to meet the musician himself. He even signed CDs for fans who asked. “I hate to admit it … but I come from a family of hoarders. We thought that we’re pretty organized, but we just have so much stuff that we’ve accumulated over the years,” he said of the decision to hold a garage sale. “We’ve been on the road for so many years that we just buy more things … Now it’s time to downsize.” Proceeds from the sale, which runs Tuesday and Wednesday, go toward charities like Alberta Dreams and the Golden Circle of Champions.
