Edmonton’s electricity providers said four outages Thursday morning left more than 7,000 residents without power. An Epcor spokesperson said two of the outages were caused by equipment failure, one by a tree and another by “animal interference.” A total of 7,109 customers were impacted. Just over 3,000 customers in Beverly Heights, Highlands, River Valley Highlands, River Valley Rundle and Rundle Heights were affected by the outage caused by animal interference which started at 6:17 a.m.. By 7:45 a.m., all but 16 customers had power restored with the remainder following at 9:45 a.m. As of 3 p.m., Epcor was not reporting any active outages.
