Edmonton police are searching for a boy they say sexually assaulted an eight-year-old girl in the summer. The boy approached a group of parents and children at a playground near 109 Street and 162 Avenue on Monday, July 7 at around 5:30 p.m., and asked if he could play with the kids, police said. “During this time, it is believed the male took an 8-year-old girl into a wooded area beside the park and assaulted her,” the Edmonton Police Service said in a release on Friday. EPS released a composite sketch on Friday in an attempt to get tips and identify him. He is described as a young boy with black hair, 5′6″ to 5′8″ tall, and he was wearing a white t-shirt with a logo across the chest, white running shoes and light blue jeans. Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Edmonton police at 780-423-4567.
