Cooler, mostly cloudy and breezy in the Edmonton area today. Steadier rain continues to fall in eastern Alberta and across southern Alberta. There’s even some snow falling in the southern foothills west and southwest of Calgary this morning. All of that organized moisture will avoid the Edmonton region, but a few scattered showers are possible today - especially midday. Funnel clouds are once again possible in eastern AB this afternoon, so don’t be surprised if another “weather statement” is issued for that part of the province this afternoon. With some clearing overnight, expect temperatures to slip near the freezing mark in the Edmonton area and surrounding regions Thursday morning. The greatest risk for frost will be in western and northwestern Alberta. After that chilly start, a warmer southwesterly flow returns for Thursday and temperatures will climb back to highs around 20 C for Thu/Fri in Edmonton. Saturday looks to be the warmest day of the next few with a high in the low to mid 20s, BUT...there’s no strong upper ridge settling in. Overall, the pattern remains fairly unsettled through the next four to seven days. So, expect an almost daily chance of scattered late-day showers/thunderstorms and we won’t see any runaway heat settling. After today, most of the rest of the month should hit highs in the upper teens/low 20s. That’s around average to slightly above average.
