We’re off to the warmest start to November since 2016 in Edmonton. That year had nine days with double-digit daytime highs. Friday will be Edmonton’s fourth and we’re on track for 10 to 12 days with highs of 10 C or warmer. The long-term average is for two double-digit days in November. It DOES still look like we’ll start to see some cooler air drop in around the middle of the month. But, that means the warm spell will continue at least through to the end of next week. Today: some clouds sliding across the province with some showers and pockets of mixed precipitation in areas north of Edmonton this morning and early this afternoon. There’s a slight chance of a brief, spotty shower in the city midday and then some clearing late this afternoon. Temperatures should get to 12 or 13 C with light wind until the evening hours. Gusts will start to pick up after 6 p.m. and should be in the 30 km/h range in the evening. Gusts overnight will become 50-60 km/h and that’ll persist into the early-morning hours of Saturday. Those gusts are thanks to a low-pressure system moving across northern Alberta, bringing rain to the north Friday night and early Saturday. There’s another slight risk of a shower after midnight in the Edmonton region, but not significant precipitation is expected. Wind will ease by early Saturday afternoon in Edmonton and we’ll be under mainly sunny skies for most of the day. A few clouds will move in through the evening hours. Temperatures should hit about 12 C in the afternoon. Game time forecast for the Elks-Lions CFL West Final has temperatures around 9 C at kickoff and closer to 7 C by the end of the game with 10-15 km/h wind. The wind picks up again on Sunday with gusts in the 40-50 km/h range for most of the day. That wind will be coming in out of the south and drawing in some warm air, so temperatures should jump to 14 or 15 C Sunday afternoon. A slight cooldown hit for Monday/Tuesday as highs drop back to the 10 C range. THEN...right back into the mid teens for highs Wednesday/Thursday in the city.
