We’re back into a cooler, cloudy and wet pattern for the next few days. Showers will roll into the Edmonton region from the west by mid to late morning and there may be some lightning associated with that as it pushes through. We should get a bit of a break from the showers this afternoon and then a few more showers are possible this evening or late tonight. There’s also a decent chance of some showers in the area Wednesday morning. The primary severe thunderstorm risk is in southern Alberta later today, although isolated severe storms are possible in central Alberta. Speaking of severe weather, there are reports of a tornado in Girouxville Monday evening around 8 p.m. There are social media posts detailing some damage in the area, which is just south of Peace River in northwestern Alberta. As of yet, it’s a “likely” tornado until it’s confirmed by Environment and Climate Change Canada and the Northern Tornadoes Project. Back in the Edmonton area: Out of all the next few days, Saturday’s shaping up to be the wettest as an area of low pressure slides across the province and delivers some heavier, steadier rain. The track of that system could change... but... as of right now it’s projected to give the Edmonton area a good, solid soaking on Saturday. Afternoon temperatures will be in the mid to high teens today through Thursday. We should see some sun and temperatures just slightly above 20 C on Friday. Then... back to the teens for the weekend with that high probability of rain on Saturday and a chance of some scattered showers for the Summer Solstice on Sunday.
